An online retailer that curates truly unique gifts created by independent makers across the world. Started in 1999 and a founding B Corp, Uncommon Goods found themselves in a period of intense growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were in need of a brand refresh and the tools to market new experiences and benefits to their existing audience and newly acquired customers
My first task was to come up with a set of quirky and fiendly characters that would feature all over the brand's website and newsletter. In the brief, they were looking to combine products with a sense of whimsy and unexpectedness.

For the website, the brand will use illustrations as unexpected decorations, to bring to life seasonal campaigns, and sale messaging, as well as to promote gift guides.
The simple frame by frame animations were hand painted with gouache for a handmade look&feel.
